Forest Talk / 7 p.m. in Bath

The Kennebec Estuary Land Trust’s annual lecture series explores working landscapes, specifically the ecological and economic benefit of forestland and fisheries. The first talk in the series will be held at Maine Maritime Museum in Bath. Kevin Doran of the Maine State Forest Service and Liz Petruska of the 12 Rivers Collaborative will talk about forest issues. Members of local organizations and the public are encouraged to share their ideas on forest use. Call 442-8400.

Greg Stump film in Portland

Ski film pioneer Greg Stump presents a unique look at the skiing world with his latest film, “Legend of Aahhh’s.” The feature takes a semi-autobiographical approach to explore the history of the ski film genre and the way in which these films have influenced big mountain skiing and pop culture. Betting the Farm / 7 p.m. in Kennebunk

If you are a born Mainer or moved here to find “home,” you’ll relate to “Betting the Farm.” The film will be shown at the First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church as part of the Maine Sierra Club’s fall series. The documentary by Cecily Pingree and Jason Mann follows three farm families as they risk everything to launch their new milk company — Maine’s Own Organic Milk. Admission is free, but film goers are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item for the York County Shelters Program. Dessert will be served at 6:30 p.m.

SATURDAY

Mountain Hike / 10 a.m. in Bucksport

Jacob Buck Mountain is the venue for the fifth hike on the Great Mountain Pond Conservation Trust’s Peak-a-Week series. This moderately-to-difficult 3-mile hike has modest elevation gain. Meet at True Value Hardware to carpool, and wear blaze orange as hunting season is under way. For more information, call 825-4709.
