RICHMOND — A van flipped on Route 197 Friday, causing minor injuries and damage to a utility pole.
The crash was reported at 3:45 p.m. just east of Parks Road, Richmond police Sgt. Adam Garland said.
Brandi Lee, 21, of Augusta was driving a 1999 Chevrolet Venture minivan east through a construction zone on Route 197 and got too close to the shoulder, Garland said.
The passenger side of the van went over a steep shoulder, into a ditch and hit a culvert, which Garland said caused the van to flip.
Lee had her seatbelt on and complained of back, neck and should pain; she was transported to MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta.
Garland said a father and son, whom he believed were vacationing Massachusetts firefighters, stopped to render aid, and that a damaged utility pole was to be replaced.
