Baked Beans
Saturday, Oct. 6, Friends Church, Route 202, will host a baked bean supper from 5-6:30 p.m. The menu includes baked beans, brown bread, salads, pie, coffee and punch. $7 for adults, $1 for children under 12.
All You Can Eat Supper
An all-you-can-eat baked bean supper will be held at White Rock Community Club from 4:30-6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6. The menu includes beans, hot dogs, mac and cheese, salads, biscuits and homemade desserts. Adults $7, kids $3.
Tea for You
There will be a Tea For You @ the Library on Tuesday, Oct. 9, at 1:30 p.m. in the meeting room at the library on Windham Center Road. The public is invited to enjoy tasty treats and tea! For more information please call 892-1908.

VFW Meets
Windham’s Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10643 will meet on Wednesday, Oct. 10, at 6 p.m. at the Windham Veterans Center. Supper starts at 5 p.m. The Veterans Center is located behind the Windham Mall (Hannaford’s). Take Veterans Memorial Drive by Friendly’s and follow to the end. Bring a dessert to share!
Help for Vets, Dependents
Veterans Service Officer Phyllis D’Orsay will be at the Windham Veterans Center on Wednesday morning, Oct. 10, from 9 a.m. until noon, to assist veterans, widows of veterans and dependents with questions about benefits and other information. If you have questions of a military nature, stop in and get some answers. No appointment is needed.
Vets Host Bean Supper
Another delicious baked bean supper will be held by Windham VFW Post 10643 on Friday, Oct. 12, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. The menu includes home baked beans, hot dogs, salads, desserts and beverages. Adults $8, under 12, $5; 3 and under, free. Tickets at the door or call Wayne Carter, 222-2565. All veterans eligible for the Veterans of Foreign Wars and their immediate families will be admitted free of charge – bring your DD214 or proof of campaign service. U.S. Marines will have their first year dues of $31 paid by a VFW member.
Electronic Recycling
Residents from all towns can participate in the electronic recycling day on Saturday, Oct. 13, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Windham Mall. Enter at Veterans Memorial Drive next to Friendly’s. Recycle TVs, computer monitors, hard drive, laptops, printers, cell phones, cordless phones, VCR, DVD audio equipment, stereos, speakers. No household appliances. Donations accepted to cover costs and help support local mission needs of Windham Hill United Church of Christ.
Anniversary Dinner
The Lakes Region Senior Center held their first anniversary dinner in September at the Cressey Road United Methodist Church, Gorham. Members and guests enjoyed hearing how the group has grown and includes members from many Lakes Region towns. Glenn Lynds, president, introduced the newly elected officers: Vice President Gerry Day, Secretary Blanche Alexander, Treasurer Rocky Clark and Board of Directors Marge Doyon, Clarence Wisecup, Avis Fleck and Cheryl Robbins. Also recognized were many members that are active in committees. The Center will hold a luncheon on Monday, Oct. 15, at noon. Menu includes BBQ chicken, mashed potato, veggies, cranberry sauce and rolls. Dessert will be birthday cake (for October birthdays) and ice cream. A donation of $4 per person will cover costs. If your birthday is Oct. 15, the meal is free. This is open to the public.
Harvest Dinner
On Saturday, Oct. 20, a Harvest Dinner and Cabaret will be held at Faith Lutheran Church, 988 Roosevelt Trail, Windham. The menu includes beef-barley soup, homemade sweet breads Autumn salad, glazed ham, scalloped potatoes, butternut squash w/ginger, apple and pumpkin pie, soft drinks and coffee. Tickets are $14 per person, $25 for two. Limited seating. Dinner is at 5 p.m followed by the cabaret featuring local entertainment. For tickets call Mary at 627-7007 or Peggy at 897-7579.
Land Trust Annual Meeting
Windham Land Trust’s annual meeting will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 7 at 7 p.m. at Windham Public Library. The public is invited.
Shriners Meet
Lake Region Shrine Club meets on the third Tuesday each month at 5 p.m. at Club 302, Route 302, North Windham. For more information, call Jim Hanson, 892-7187.
Thrift Shop
The Thrift Shop at the North Windham UCC is open from 1-3 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday or 10 a.m. until noon Saturdays. The Thrift Shop is in the lower level of the church.
