A tractor-trailer in the median of Interstate 295 slowed northbound rush-hour traffic Friday afternoon, but it was flowing smoothly again by 7 p.m
The crash happened at mile 12 in Cumberland at 4 p.m. Friday, said a spokesman for the Maine Department of Transportation. Traffic was backed up more than 30 minutes at 6 p.m., drivers said.
Southbound traffic also was delayed as people slowed to look at the scene.
The Maine Turnpike issued an alert saying there were multiple crashes on Interstate 295 between Exits 10 and 13 in Falmouth causing further delays in both directions.
The Maine Turnpike Authority also reported a crash on the turnpike southbound between Exit 7 in York and Exit 19 in Wells.
