Vote for Caterina

With the upcoming November election approaching, there are decisions to be made. As a 19-year-old student at the University of Maine and Scarborough High School alum, I know the challenge students are facing. College students are facing constantly rising tuition, high school students are watching teachers leave and students are having to pay more to participate in extracurricular activities. Scarborough provides incredible opportunities but over the last two years, the school system is failing.

I’m voting for Jean-Marie Caterina to represent Scarborough in the Maine House of Representatives. In high school, Academic Decathlon was one activity that made who I am today, and that’s how I know Jean-Marie. Jean-Marie Caterina is a former teacher and a concerned advocate for the Scarborough educational system and I know she’s the person to right the ship. Scarborough’s teachers and Scarborough students need Jean-Marie Caterina. Please vote for Jean-Marie Caterina, on Nov. 6.

I am pleased to support Melissa Linscott for South Portland City Council, District. 3. Melissa comes to us with fresh ideas and a desire to make our community more liveable. She wants to help make this a place where people come to raise their families. She and her husband, Brian, own a real estate business here, Linscott Real Estate down in the Knightville area of South Portland, and she knows how vital healthy business is to the tax base of our city. She recognizes how good schools translate to a thriving economy. Melissa will work to make South Portland a more liveable and affordable community.

Make your vote count. Vote for the future of South Portland. Vote with me; vote Melissa Linscott.

Donovan the right choice for Town Council

I typically do not write letters endorsing candidates for office. But as I reflect on the exceptional challenges that we face today, I believe it more important than ever, that we take the time to carefully consider who we elect to represent us on our Town Council in Scarborough this November 2012. I have considered the choices, and I’ve come to the conclusion that Bill Donovan is our best choice for Scarborough Town Council. I have known Bill for several years, first meeting him while I served as chairman of the Scarborough Planning Board and later as I served as your councilor. I didn’t always agree with Bill on every issue, but found Bill to be a considerate, fair, and careful thinking individual which quickly earned my respect and admiration. If you know Bill, you’ll know what I mean and will likely vote for him. If you haven’t met Bill yet, I’m convinced you’ll come to the same conclusion as I have once you do. Bill does his homework, researches the issues, considers all sides, and eloquently states his opinion.

Bill Donovan’s resume reflects the kind of background we need to effectively guide Scarborough. Bill has practiced law for 40 years, specializing in real estate and municipal law. Bill served on the Candia, New Hampshire Planning Board and the Souhegan Regional School Board in Amherst, New Hampshire. In addition to wanting to ensure a healthy business climate with low taxes, Bill cares about the environment as well. Bill has been actively involved in water quality testing for Maine Healthy Beaches and endangered species protection with Maine Audubon. Having had several conversations with Bill, I know Bill is interested in what I believe is important to Scarborough.

Bill will endeavor to ensure our town continues to make good sound decisions that will ensure a business friendly environment, maintain essential town services, prudent investment in our infrastructure, and high quality education for our students. Bill also understands that as we strive for the very best for our citizens, we must keep in mind that keeping Scarborough an affordable place to live deserves a place in every conversation.

I respectfully invite you to get to know Bill Donovan. I firmly believe that once you do, you’ll vote for Bill Donovan for Scarborough Town Council this November.
