WISCASSET — The Wiscasset Community Family Festival and Air Show will be held Saturday, Oct. 6 at Wiscasset Municipal Airport.

The show, organized by the Wiscasset Airport and Maine Aeronautics Association, features the Texas Flying Legends Museum, Young Eagles airplane rides and the Bath Municipal Band.

Gates open at 8 a.m. The air show starts at 2 p.m. Admission is free.

The Texas Flying Legends Museum features rare, WW II-vintage aircraft, including one of only two Japanese Zeros still flying in the world, a FG-1D Corsair, a P-40K, a P- 51D Mustang and a Mitchell B-25 Bomber.

Based in Houston, Texas Flying Legends Museum flies their growing collection to Wiscasset each summer and back to Texas in the fall, according to a news release.

Other events include a pancake breakfast hosted by the Wiscasset High School Booster Club, 8 to 10:30 a.m.; and free airplane rides for children age 7 to 17, sponsored by the Experimental Aircraft Association.

The Bath Municipal Band, featuring medleys of patriotic/ WWII songs will perform from noon until the air show begins at 2 pm.

The Wiscasset Airport is owned and operated by the town of Wiscasset since 1960. The General Aviation facility serves Lincoln and Sagadahoc

Counties providing an air transportation link to New England and the Northeast.

The airport is located at 96 Chewonki Neck Road, off Route 144.

The Maine Aeronautics Association is a nonprofit, professional organization dedicated to keeping flying safe and fun.
