Police are investigating a burglary reported Saturday at a business on Pleasant Street.
A burglar alarm at Autometrics, located at 175 Pleasant St., was reported to Brunswick police at 10:03 p.m. Saturday.
Lieutenant Lynne Doucette said Tuesday the first officer on scene found a broken window. The owners came and unlocked the building and police determined there was no one inside.
A small amount of cash was taken by the perpetrator, who is believed to have entered and exited through the broken window.
Doucette said the suspect set off an audible alarm in the building, which may have hurried them along.
A police dog responded from Topsham Police Department Saturday night to conduct a track and found nothing.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
