Town office to close ?for election training

Pownal’s town office, located in Mallett Hall, will be closed on Wednesday, Sept. 26, and Thursday, Sept. 27, for staff election training. The office is normally closed on Fridays, so it will reopen on Monday, Oct. 1.

Regular town office hours are Mondays from 8:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m. and Tuesdays through Thursdays from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. For more information, call 688-4611.

Baked bean and spaghetti supper

The North Pownal United Methodist Church on Lawrence Road will be holding a public baked bean and spaghetti supper on Saturday, Oct. 6, from 4:30-6 p.m. Tickets are $6 for adults, $3 for children and kids under 3 are free.

Food pantry open ?on Tuesdays

The North Pownal United Methodist Church food pantry on Lawrence Road is open every Tuesday from 10:30 a.m.- noon. Volunteers never know from week to week what will be available, but the pantry usually gets different kinds of breads, produce, desserts, etc. All are welcome.

Pownal Elementary School book fair

Pownal Elementary School’s Scholastic book fair will be held Wednesday, Oct. 3, from 6-7:30 p.m. in the school’s gym. Come “Read, White, and Blue!” with the school as they celebrate reading with a mock election (and popcorn). There will be a great selection of Scholastic books for sale and the event is open to the public.
