PORTLAND – Abby Maker scored both goals Saturday to lead Cheverus to a 2-1 victory that sent Sanford to its first SMAA schoolgirl soccer loss of the season.
Maker and Taylor Littlefield of Sanford (7-1) had first-half goals. With 11 minutes left in the game, Maker pounced on a turnover close to the Sanford goal and slipped the ball past keeper Kelley Tovey.
Tovey finished with 10 saves. Mikayla Mayberry made six saves for the Stags (6-2).
DEERING 2, SOUTH PORTLAND 1: Edie Pallozzi broke a 1-1 tie with her second goal of the game, receiving Samantha Sivovlos’ corner kick and lacing a drive into the net with 3:10 left as the Rams (5-2) beat South Portland (2-6) at Portland.
The Red Riots led 1-0 at the half on Jenacee Bradbury’s goal, but Pallozzi tied it with 9:28 left from Delaney Coyne.
Lee Ann Downs made two saves in the first half for Deering and Maddy Mazjanis added two in the second. Emma Russell had six saves for South Portland.
GORHAM 8, MCAULEY 0: Kalie St. Germain scored three times for the Rams (6-2), who collected six goals in the second half to beat McAuley (1-6) at Gorham.
Emile Lewis added two goals, and Meghan Cushing, Lauren Stiles and Jess Rexrode scored one each.
Molly Miller compiled 23 saves for McAuley. Marissa Roberts stopped nine shots for Gorham.
MORSE 8, GARDINER 3: Miracle Trimble and Brianna Williams scored three goals apiece as the Shipbuilders (6-1-1) rolled past the Tigers (7-2) at Bath.
Trimble and Williams teamed up on the first three goals for Morse. Paige Martin scored off a rebound after a Sophie Sreden corner kick to give the Shipbuilders a 4-2 halftime lead.
Gardiner closed the gap with a penalty kick 14 minutes into the second half, but Morse scored the final four goals — two from Trimble and one each from Williams and Ruth Nadeau.
MT. ARARAT 4, SKOWHEGAN 0: Libby Ouellette scored two goals to lead the Eagles (5-2) past the Indians (1-6-1) at Topsham.
Kristi Willey and Syndi Clark also scored. Lauren Williams and Michelle Pelletier split time in goal for the Eagles.
FALMOUTH 0, YARMOUTH 0: Shannon Fallon of the Clippers (1-3-2) and Caroline Lucas of Falmouth (6-0-1) finished with seven saves apiece at Yarmouth.
POLAND 2, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 1: Emily Bolduc had a goal and an assist in the second half as the Knights (3-2-1) rallied past the Patriots (2-4-1) at Gray.
Ashley Moreau started the scoring for Gray-New Gloucester in the first half. Emma Turton tied it in the second half.
MEDOMAK VALLEY 2, LINCOLN ACADEMY 1: Heidi Obuchon and Jordan Moore scored for Medomak Valley (5-2-1) at Waldoboro.
Barrett Campbell answered for Lincoln.
Miranda Achorn of Lincoln made four saves. Laura Otterbein finished with three saves for Medomak.
PORTLAND 3, BONNY EAGLE 0: Chessa Hoekstra and Isabelle Stehl scored in the first half as Portland (2-5) shut out Bonny Eagle (1-7) at Standish.

NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 4, OLD ORCHARD BEACH 1: Kayla Rose scored twice to lead the Panthers (8-1) past the Seagulls (0-9) at Yarmouth.
Juliana Tardif and Marina Poole also scored for NYA. Emilie Chard answered for Old Orchard.
LAWRENCE 1, MT. ARARAT 0: Makayla Conley’s unassisted goal with 6:01 remaining lifted the Bulldogs (7-2-1) over the Eagles (5-4) at Topsham.
FRYEBURG ACADEMY 1, CAPE ELIZABETH 0: Mariah Davis scored after 1:36 and Fryeburg Academy (8-0) went on to beat the Capers (4-4) at Cape Elizabeth.
Skye Dole sent the ball in from the wing with a centering pass and Davis flicked it in for the score.
WINSLOW 6, CAMDEN HILLS 2: Jennifer Poulin and Mackenzie Winslow each scored twice as the Black Raiders (7-2) beat the Windjammers (3-6) at Rockport.
POLAND 2, FREEPORT 1: Amanda Dube scored with five minutes left in overtime to lift the Knights (3-4-1) over the Falcons (4-4) at Freeport.
Kyla Sturtevant gave Poland a first-half lead. Olivia Bubar answered with 3:04 left in regulation.
LAKE REGION 3, WELLS 0: Lucy Fowler scored all three goals as the Lakers (8-0) downed the Warriors (1-7) at Naples.
Meghan VanLoan made three saves for the shutout.
LAWRENCE 1, MT. ARARAT 0: Makayla Conley’s unassisted goal with 6:01 remaining lifted the Bulldogs (7-2-1) over the Eagles (5-4) at Topsham.
FALMOUTH 3, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 0: Leika Scott, Jill Rothweiler and Youngjin Kim had a goal apiece as the Yachtsmen (4-3-2) shut out the Patriots (0-8) at Gray.
Olivia Rottari made nine saves for Gray-New Gloucester.
YARMOUTH 3, GREELY 3: Jessica Wilson scored twice for Greely (2-6-2) and Emma Peterson twice for the Clippers (5-2-1) at Cumberland.
Wilson also assisted on Mimi Lyon-Edmondson’s goal, and Katie Overhaug scored for Yarmouth.
VOLLEYBALL
GORHAM 3, LAKE REGION 0: Charlene Landry and Lauren Carter each had six aces to help the Rams (6-1) overwhelm the Lakers (0-6) at Gorham, 25-2, 25-7 and 25-14.
Landry finished with 14 rotation points and eight assists, while Carter had 10 rotation points. Sam Robinson contributed two aces and six rotation points.
