YARMOUTH — Grant Burfeind tapped in a loose ball with less than five minutes left in regulation Saturday, and Falmouth went on to tie Yarmouth 2-2 in a Western Maine Conference schoolboy soccer game.

David Clemmer gave the Clippers (5-0-2) the first goal after a scoreless first half,  but Ian McBrady answered for Falmouth (6-0-1) seven minutes later. With 5:30 remaining, Walter Conrad scored his first varsity goal to put Yarmouth back on top before Burfeind sent it to overtime 50 seconds later.

Will D’Agostino of Falmouth and Andrew Fochler of Yarmouth came up with five saves each.

MORSE 1, GARDINER 0: Nick Theriault’s goal from Tristan Kiffer nine minutes into the game was the difference as the Shipbuilders (1-7) edged the Tigers (1-7) at Gardiner.

Kiffer sent a cross from the corner to Theriault, who one-touched it just inside the far post.

Duane Tardiff made four saves for the Shipbuilders. Ian Lane had seven saves for Gardiner.

WAYNFLETE 1, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 1: Jack Cutler scored for Waynflete (5-0-1) 10 minutes into the second half, but Austin Carson tied it for the Patriots (3-2-2) with 10 minutes left in regulation at Gray.

Gray-NG keeper Nick Rogers made 10 saves. Waynflete goalie Zander Majercik turned away nine shots.

POLAND 3, WELLS 2: Alex Corcoran scored two goals in the second half to help the Knights (1-5-1) hold off the Warriors (2-6) at Poland.

Nate Morin’s goal 3:38 into the match gave the Knights an early lead. Wells tied it 1:01 into the second half on a goal by Spencer Sibley.

Corcoran scored the next two before Sam LaPointe answered for Wells with 7:41 left.

MT. ABRAM 6, WINTHROP 0: Trevor Brackley scored twice to lead the Roadrunners (5-4) over Winthrop (2-5-1) at Salem.

Chris Daly, Cody Espeaignnette, Jay Chenard and Dayton Vandry also scored. Tristen Dyer and Sak Sirwong combined to make four saves for Mt. Abram.

Matt Sekerak stopped 16 shots for Winthrop.

VALLEY 6, RANGELEY 1: Carrington Miller had three goals as the Cavaliers (4-2) beat the Lakers (0-7) at Rangeley.

Stone Ellis, Andrew Marden and Joshua West also scored, and Cody Laweryson and Andrew Tremblay both made six saves for Valley.

Ricky Thompson scored and Gunnar Johnson had 13 saves for Rangeley.

MAINE CENTRAL INSTITUTE 3, NOKOMIS 2: Will Cu, Cameron Michaud and Price Li scored as the Huskies (2-5-1) beat Nokomis (1-6-1) at Pittsfield.

Slade Emery and Doug Bryant each added an assist for MCI.

Christian Brown and Lucas Hayden scored for Nokomis.

FOOTBALL

OCEANSIDE 14, CAMDEN HILLS 8: Raheem James, lined up at wide receiver, crossed the field on a narrow slant and took Sam Meklin’s pass 46 yards to the end zone in the fourth quarter, and Garrett Burns rushed for the 2-point conversion as the Mariners (2-2) rallied past the Windjammers (0-4) at Rockport.

The catch was James’ second of the game. James’ only other reception was a 20-yard TD pass from Meklin that brought the Mariners within 8-6 in the second quarter.

Camden Hills scored first on Alex Crans’ 6-yard run and 2-point conversion.

OAK HILL 49, WINTHROP 0: Alex Mace carried five times and scored three touchdowns in the first quarter as the Raiders (3-1) took early command and cruised past Winthrop (1-3) at Wales.
