MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – McCallum Foote threw for 285 yards and five touchdowns as Middlebury rolled to a 42-18 win over Bowdoin in a New England Small College Athletic Conference football opener Saturday.

Zach Driscoll and Brendan Rankowitz each caught two scoring passes from Foote.

David Black caught a touchdown pass from Thomas Romero for the Polar Bears, and Greg Pierce rushed for a TD.

TRINITY 37, BATES 16: Evan Bunker rushed 27 times for 146 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Bantams over the Bobcats at Hartford, Conn.

Bates pulled to within 21-16 in the third quarter when linebacker Gilbert Brown returned an interception 46 yards to set up a 1-yard touchdown plunge by quarterback Trevor Smith.

But Trinity held Bates to two yards the rest of the game and pulled away on touchdown runs by Bunker and Michael Budness.

WILLIAMS 41, COLBY 7: Adam Marske hit Darren Hartwell with scoring passes of 25 yards and 6 yards in the first half as the Ephs defeated the Mules at Williamstown, Mass.

Colby scored in the second quarter on a 40-yard option pass from Luke Duncklee to Michael Lahiff.

Duncklee finished with eight catches for 66 yards.

FITCHBURG STATE 34, MAINE MARITIME 14: Billy Weatherbee rushed for 168 yards and a touchdown for the Mariners (0-3) in a loss to the Falcons (2-2) at Fitchburg, Mass.
