Amvets offering rental specials
The Durham Amvets Post, located at 1049 Royalsborough Road, is running a special on rentals for the month of September. Weekend rentals are $150 and weekdays are $100. Renters are responsible for cleaning the hall after the event. For an additional $50 per rental, the Amvets will clean the hall instead.

Scrap metal drive under way
The Amvets are holding a scrap metal drive from now until Nov. 1. All metal can be dropped off by the Dumpster at the Amvets hall on Royalsborough Road.
The Amvets will also be holding a yard sale on weekends through Nov. 1. The sale runs from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. For more information, call Bill at 713-2100 or Harvey at 256-2203.
Upcoming meetings, hours
The Durham code enforcement officer will be available at the Durham Town Office on Wednesday, Sept. 19 from 5-7 p.m.
The selectmen will be meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 25, at 6:30 p.m., in the Durham Town Office, and the Educational Exploration Committee will be meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 25 at 6:30 p.m. at the Durham Fire Station.
Nomination papers available
Nomination papers are now available for residents who are interested in finishing out the term of Philip Gilikson on the Durham Board of Selectmen. The seat became open at the end of June when Gilikson resigned for personal reasons. The term will expire in April 2014. Papers need to be completed and filed with the town clerk on or before Monday, Sept. 24, at 7 p.m.

Town office hours
The town office is open Mondays from 9 a.m.-7 p.m., Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. The office is closed for lunch from noon-1 p.m. and all day on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. For more information, call 353-2561.

The Durham Republicans will meet at 7 p.m. on Sept. 25, at the fire station. All registered Republicans are encouraged to attend. Town seeking board members

Sign up for new Tri Town Soccer
Tri Town Soccer is celebrating its inaugural season this fall with a full schedule of Travel soccer for U11 girls. Any girl ages 9-10 are welcome. Practices are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5-6:30 p.m. at the Freeport Middle School fields with games, clinics, and whistle scrimmages on weekends. Additional age groups for boys and girls will be added if enough interest exists. Team focus will be on developing essential soccer skills, teamwork, fun and a love of the game. The Durham Eureka Community Center is available to rent for small groups of 50 or less. The building is great for showers, birthday gatherings and meetings. Lisbon Area Christian Outreach
The Lisbon Area Christian Outreach’s food pantry and clothing bank hours are: Wednesday: 6 p.m.-8 p.m., Thursday: 10 a.m. to noon and Saturday: 8 a.m.-10 a.m. LACO serves the communities of Bowdoin, Durham and Lisbon. The website is www.lacopantry.org.
The physical address for food and clothing is the Marion T. Morse Community Center, enter from the Berry Avenue side behind the Lisbon United Methodist Church. The clothing bank cannot accept furniture, appliances, etc., as they do not have the room to store them. For more, call Debbie at 240-1637.
