BRUNSWICK — On Sunday, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church will welcome families with a newly renovated space for children and a special familyfriendly Eucharist.

“We are delighted to be able to expand our offerings for children and families with new space, new classes and worship planned for children and their parents and caregivers,” said the Rev. Ann Broomell, transitional priestin charge. “We invite you to try it out this fall.”

St. Paul’s new worship service takes place each Sunday at 9:30 a.m., giving families a chance to worship together in an informal setting. Bible readings, songs and Eucharist are tailored for the developmental needs of toddlers and children up to grade 5.

“Young children become more fully engaged with worship if they can participate actively, for instance, by singing along, doing simple finger-plays, or helping set the Eucharistic table,” said Kristin Agudelo, director of Christian formation. “Our ultimate goal is to make worship more accessible for families with young children, who often have difficulty sitting through longer, more formal worship services.”

The family service will be held in St. Paul’s newly renovated second floor, which has nearly doubled the space available for church school and teen programs. The church offers an array of programs for children and teens, including nursery care; church school classes for pre-K, grades K-2 and 3-5; Rite 13 (a three-year program for middle school students); and J2A (a four-year program for high school teens that culminates in a pilgrimage to a domestic or international site).

Other new space will be used for the adult and children’s choir rehearsals.

Church school and teen programs begin on Sunday: grades 6 through high school at 9:30 a.m., and pre-K through grade 5 at 10:30 a.m., following the family service.
