NAPLES — Jack Davenport and Ethan Roney set each other up for a goal as the Freeport High School boys soccer team scored a 2-1 Western Maine Conference victory over Lake Region on Thursday.
After a scoreless first half, Davenport gave Freeport (1-1) a 1-0 lead when he finished off a passing play from Roney just 1:26 into the second frame.
Davenport returned the favor five minutes later when his cross set up Roney to make it a 2-0 contest.
Lake Region (0-3) drew within a goal with 11:15 remaining, as Mike Mageles scored on a penalty kick.
Falcons netminder Brendan Qualls had two saves in the win, while Lakers goaltender Pat Irish had 25 stops.
Freeport hosts Fryeburg Academy on Saturday at 4 p.m.

Colin Lush and Zack McNaughton combined on five goals as the host Bulldogs rolled to a Mountain Valley Conference win over the Greyhounds (0-1-1) at Farmingdale.
Lush had the hat trick, while teammates Matt Crocker, Steve Hubert and Evan Edgecomb each picked up a goal.
Brian Allen and Sam Shepherd combined on the shutout for 3-0 Hall-Dale, while Lisbon netminder Andrew Gamache had 13 stops.
Lisbon is slated to visit Spruce Mountain on Saturday at 11:30 a.m.
