I don’t read Rodney Quinn’s column in the Current regularly, but this one [Aug. 23] caught my eye.
Let me preface this by saying that I’m not a Mormon and not a Republican.
I found the article, “Some questions of faith,” to be quite inflammatory, if not hateful, and I fear it will spread distrust and hatred, if nothing else. Mr. Quinn included all the dated and negative aspects of Mormonism, but neglected to mention the positives: thrift, community service and service to others, charity, caring for their own, humanitarian aid, planning for the future, honesty, commitment to learning, and strong families, for starters. They do not run up debt, have wholesome family values where they teach serving others, and are often sought after in business for such commitment and values.
The column is making me thing twice about reading The Current. I found it biased to the point of being offensive.
