Durham Fire & Rescue seeks generator quotes
Durham Fire & Rescue is looking for quotes for a 17-kilowatt propane generator for the Eureka Community Center. The proposal should be for a 17 kw generator, with automatic transfer switch, generator panel, pad, all connections, labor and testing.
It should also include the earliest possible start date, time for completion and payment schedule. The propane line will be connected by others. An insurance certificate naming the town of Durham as an additional insured will be required of the successful contractor.
Quotes should be submitted to the Durham Town Office in a sealed envelope labeled “Generator” no later than Tuesday, Sept. 4 at 4 p.m. The town of Durham reserves the right to accept and/or reject all or any quotes.

Town Office closed ?for holiday
The Durham Town Office will be closed on Sept. 3 for the Labor Day holiday.
The town office is open Mondays from 9 a.m.-7 p.m., Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. The office is closed for lunch from noon-1 p.m. and all day on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. For more information, call 353-2561.
Masonic Lodge bean supper
The Masonic Lodge, located on Route 136 across from the River Park, will be hosting a public bean supper on Saturday, Sept. 8 from 4:30-6 p.m. The menu includes baked beans, chop suey, hot dogs, potato salad, cole slaw, bread, pickles and homemade pies. The cost is $7.50 for adults, $3 for kids ages 5-12 and kids under 5 eat free.
Planning Board to meet
The Durham Planning Board will meet on Wednesday, Sept. 5 at 7 p.m. in the town office.
Nomination papers available for selectman’s seat
Nomination papers are now available for residents who are interested in finishing out the term of Philip Glickson on the Durham Board of Selectmen. The seat became open at the end of June when Glickson resigned for personal reasons. The term will expire in April 2014.
Residents can visit the Town Clerk’s office during regular operating hours to take out the form. They need to collect at least 25, but no more than 100, signatures of Durham residents to get on the ballot. Nomination papers need to be completed and filed with the town clerk on or before Monday, Sept. 24, at 7 p.m.

Town seeking board members

The Durham Eureka Community Center is available to rent for small groups of 50 or less. The building is great for showers, birthday gatherings and meetings. Lisbon Area Christian Outreach
The Lisbon Area Christian Outreach’s food pantry and clothing bank hours are: Wednesday: 6 p.m.-8 p.m., Thursday: 10 a.m. to noon and Saturday: 8 a.m.-10 a.m. LACO serves the communities of Bowdoin, Durham and Lisbon. The website is www.lacopantry.org.
