Sandsations sand sculpting contest, noon-3 p.m. on Pine Point Beach in Scarborough.

The event supports Birth Roots, a local nonprofit that builds community from “belly to baby” by providing classes, groups, resources and information to southern Maine families.Teams can sign up at www.sandsations.org. There will be raffles, celebrity judges and a mermaid tail contest for kids.
