First Foye golf tourney set
Organizers of the first Jim Foye Memorial Golf Tourney are accepting registrations for teams to play, with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8, at Gorham Country Club, 93 McLellan Road, Gorham.
The tournament named in memory of Foye, who died in March, benefits the Jim Foye Memorial Scholarship fund. This year $1,000 scholarships were awarded to two Westbrook High School seniors – one a vocational student and the other a student athlete.
The registration fee per person in a four-player team is $60. Hole sponsorships are available at $50. Check-in time is 7:30 a.m.
A reception following the tournament includes a lunch, awards ceremony and raffle drawings. Awards include first, second and third places; longest drive; and closest to the pin.
For more information, registration or to donate to the scholarship fund, call Kathy Feldman at 854-4132 or Steve Lampson at 854-1113.
Post 62 to resume meetings
Following a summer break, the Stephen W. Manchester Post 62 of the American Legion will kickoff its monthly meetings at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 5, at 17 Dunn St. For more information, call Bob Barton at 854-2961.
