GORHAM- The Gorham Town Council, in a special meeting on Wednesday, was scheduled to decide whether to ask voters in two November referendum questions to approve borrowing $1.5 million to upgrade two buildings.

During the meeting, held after the American Journal’s deadline, the council considered asking voters for approval to issue $1 million in bonds to renovate the Gorham Public Safety Building at 270 Main St. The building houses police and fire and rescue departments.

It also considered asking voters to borrow another $500,000 for necessary repairs at the former Little Falls School on Acorn Street. The building would be slated for continued use as a community center.

Town Council Vice Chairman Philip Gagnon is sponsoring both agenda items.

Any money left from the Public Safety Building upgrade would be used to preserve or improve athletic fields. Funds left over from a repair project at the former school would be utilized at the Little Falls Recreation area at 668 Gray Road.
