The Wiscasset Area Chamber of Commerce will hold the grand opening for its new Welcome Center on Aug. 30 at 5:30 p.m.
The Welcome Center is located at 524 Bath Road. Strategically situated on bustling U.S. Route 1, the Welcome Center will provide an opportunity for visitors and passing motorists to learn more about what the Wiscasset area has to offer. The chamber not only views the Welcome Center as a unique opportunity to market the Wiscasset area to visitors but also an opportunity to connect residents with services and businesses in the area.
As the chamber begins identifying new ways to support local businesses, the Welcome Center presents an opportunity for the organization to do just that.
Over the past year, the Wiscasset Area Chamber of Commerce has been busy working on numerous projects including developing a strategic plan, hosting educational workshops for local businesses, organizing an “Alive on the River” concert series, supporting several community events, updating and improving a Wiscasset area business map, and starting work on developing a buy local campaign for the area.
The Welcome Center is another step toward the chamber’s mission of supporting Wiscasset area businesses.
Preparing the Welcome Center has been a huge community effort and could not have been completed without the generous support from landlord, Twin City Security Solutions, according to a news release.
In addition to offering the location, Twin City Security Solutions provided well over 60 hours in volunteer labor to get the space open and operational for the chamber as quickly as possible.
Additionally, Davison Construction contributed approximately 60 hours of labor; Chris Dilts from Newkirk Inn provided 24 hours of support; David Stapp with Peregrine Consulting donated, with the assistance of his two sons, an additional eight hours of labor and the owners of Botti’s Glass provided about six hours of labor.
More than 200 hours of labor and the volunteer support of several local businesses contributed to making this location the new home for the Wiscasset Area Chamber of Commerce. This location will serve as a great location to welcome people to the community for many years to come.
