Scarborough SummerFest draws big crowd Despite an early evening thunderstorm that put a one-day damper on the traditional fireworks display, Scarborough sent the season off on a high note with a crowd of nearly 5,000 people at the 15th annual SummerFest, staged by Community Services on the grounds of the Clifford Mitchell Sports Complex.
To celebrate his birthday the following day, Owen Hey, 12, left, of Saco, got off this SummerFest shot, which put Gary Garrison in the drink at a dunk tank set up to raise money for the Scarborough High School lacrosse team.

Anthony Clavette, 10, of Scarborough (No. 195), leads a field of 27 runners age 3-11 into the first corner of the kids’ one-mile run. Clavette improved on his 2011 fifth-place showing to finish third in a time of 6:36.68, behind Coffin Tristam, 10, (6:14.83) and Flaker Jarrett, 11, (6:31.21).
