FREEPORT — Freeport High School athletic followers are urged to support their teams and squads, beginning this week.
“Come show your Falcon Pride as the 1989/90 Freeport alumni take on the current FHS field hockey team in a fundraiser for former teammate and our friend Lisa (Waterman) Gonneville, who is fighting Mesothelioma cancer,” said organizer Jen Johnson.
Tonight, the Alumni/FHS team field hockey game is scheduled to be held at Freeport High School at 6 p.m., while on Aug. 29, an alumni vs. alumni field hockey contest is set for 5 p.m. followed by a reception/auction at Buck’s Naked BBQ from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
