Seniors hitting highways
Westbrook Seniors Citizens are planning three trips this fall.
The group’s first one this autumn will be a two-day trip to Killington, Vt., on Tuesday and Wednesday, Oct. 9 an 10.
Then, the seniors will travel for a nine-day trip to the Smokey Mountains and Pigeon Forge, Tenn., from Saturday, Nov. 3, through Monday, Nov. 12.
In a day trip, they will travel to Indian Head in Lincoln, N.H., on a yet determined date in December.

Join Triad
Westbrook/Gorham Triad, a group promoting safety for senior citizens, welcomes new members.
The group meets next at 9 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 14, at Mill Brook Estates in Westbrook. With the exception of summer months, it meets on the second Friday monthly alternating between Gorham and Westbrook. Triad is a coalition of senior citizens, law enforcement officials and community service groups.

City needs election workers
Election workers are needed in Westbrook due to an anticipated high voter turnout for the Nov. 6 election. The hours are 6 a.m. to approximately 9:30-10 p.m. The city is looking to have split shifts of 6 a.m.-2 p.m. and 2-10 p.m. Training will be provided. Hourly wage is $8.

Westbrook has two new police officers readying for duty. Officer Jeremy Smith, right, is a graduate of the Maine Criminal Justice Academy’s 21st Basic Law Enforcement Training Program and formerly worked with Biddeford Police Department. Smith will be assigned to the late shift Patrol Team following completion of Westbrook’s field-training program. Officer Brian Grasser is a 2012 graduate of St. Joseph’s College with a degree in criminal justice. During his senior year, he served in an internship here. Grasser is a cadet in the 23rd Basic Law Enforcement Training Program in Vassalboro.
