Nomination papers available for selectman

Nomination papers will be available on Tuesday, Aug. 14, to finish out the term of Philip Glickson on the Board of Selectmen. The seat became open at the end of June when Glickson resigned for personal reasons. The term will expire in April 2014.

Residents can visit the Town Clerk’s office during regular operating hours to pick up the form, and they need to collect at least 25, but no more than 100 Durham residents’ signatures to get on the ballot. Nomination papers must be completed and filed with the town clerk on or before Monday, Sept. 24, at 7 p.m.

Interested residents can call the town clerk with questions at 353-2561, ext. 11.

Durham Republicans ?to meet

Office hours

The Durham Town Office is open Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m.. The office is closed for lunch from noon- 1 p.m. and all day on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. For more information, call 353-2561.

News from the ?Durham Town Clerk

Absentee ballots will be available on Oct. 8 for the election Tuesday, Nov. 6. More information will follow as voting time draws closer.

Any-deer online permit applications can be submitted until Aug. 15. For more information, visit www.mefishwildlife.com. Residents applying to hunt on their own land without a license and applicants with a legal residence outside the U.S. or Canada must use the paper application and may not apply for an any-deer permit online.

The any-deer lottery drawing will be held on Sept. 7.

Lisbon Area Christian Outreach

The Lisbon Area Christian Outreach’s food pantry and clothing bank hours are: Wednesday: 6 p.m.-8 p.m., Thursday: 10 a.m. to noon and Saturday: 8 a.m.-10 a.m. LACO serves the communities of Bowdoin, Durham and Lisbon. The website is www.lacopantry.org.

The physical address for food and clothing is the Marion T. Morse Community Center, enter from the Berry Avenue side behind the Lisbon United Methodist Church. The clothing bank cannot accept furniture, appliances, etc., as they do not have the room to store them. For more, call Debbie at 240-1637.
