HARPSWELL — The Elijah Kellogg Congregational Church is planning an auction Aug. 18 at 3 p.m., offering unique opportunities for both antiques hunters and owners of collectibles who are curious about the value of their treasures.
Prior to the auction event at the church grounds on Harpswell Neck Road, (Route 123) in the center of Harpswell, Thomaston Place Auction Galleries will be on hand to offer appraisals to members of the public who are interested the Aug. 18 auction. This service will be available twice, from 3 to 6 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 17, the day before the auction, and again from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Aug. 18, the day of the auction, on the grounds of the Kellogg Church. Antiques owners receiving this service are encouraged, but not required, to make a donation to the Elijah Kellogg Church.
The auction is a fund-raising event for the Kellogg Church, a local institution that has integrated its congregational mission with Harpswell community events since 1843.
Event organizers Bruce and Pat Myer are asking potential auction contributors to contact them at least one week prior to the Aug. 18 event for details on the delivery and pickup of items offered, bought and sold. They can be reached at 725-7715.
