HARPSWELL — Robert L. Fulmer, Sr., age 84 of Harpswell, died Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston with his loving wife, son and grandchildren at his side.

Robert was born on October 26, 1927 in Wilmington, Delaware, a son of Lewis B. and Esther Lynch Fulmer and attended Wilmington Schools. Mr. Fulmer faithfully served his country in the US Navy.

He married Elizabeth Schaffer on January 15, 1949 and was a self employed roofing contractor in Wilmington, owning and operating Fulmer Roofing.

He was also a Volunteer Fireman in Wilmington and coached a Little League Baseball team.

Robert was Red Sox and Patriots fan, enjoyed fishing and waterfowl hunting, and was a member of Duck’s Unlimited.

He and his wife have lived in Harpswell for 16 years coming from Wilmington, and was a member of the First Parish Church in Brunswick where he sang in its choir. Mr. Fulmer is survived by his wife of Harpswell; his son, Robert L. Fulmer, Jr. of Freeport; his daughter, Barbara Raught of Wilmington, Delaware; a step brother, Herbert Fulmer, a step sister, Patricia Zieman, and a sister-in-law, Lola Simon, all of Wilmington, Delaware; five grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11a.m. Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at First Parish Church in Brunswick. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Fulmer’s memory can be made to the Maine Cancer Foundation, 170 U.S. Route#1, #250, Falmouth, ME 04105.
