ABIDJAN, Ivory Coast (AP) — An Ivory Coast military official says seven soldiers have been killed in another attack by gunmen on a military camp in the commercial capital, Abidjan.
Kouassi Kakao, chief of communications for the military chief of staff, says gunmen stormed the camp today in the Abidjan neighborhood of Cocody. He says one of the attackers was killed, making for a total death toll of eight. The attack came a day after five soldiers were killed in similar raids in the Abidjan neighborhood of Yopougon.
Military officials have speculated that the attacks were timed to coincide with Tuesday’s Independence Day.
