SCARBOROUGH — Students at Scarborough High School may have to pay $100 fees to park their cars in the school’s lot.
According to a report, the Scarborough Board of Education is proposing the policy to help balance the district’s budget. During the past few years, Scarborough’s had to cut positions and charge students $100 fees to play a high school sport. The parking fees could bring in about $30,000 if both of the school’s lots filled up with students.
The school said driving to school is a privilege, but not all students and parents see it that way.
More than 250 students plan to protest when the issue comes up for a vote Aug. 16.
