WISCASSET — St. Philip’s Church will continue to dish up its haddock chowder dinners each Monday through Aug. 20.

“In an effort to make the experience more pocketbookfriendly,” notes a news release, “a special family price has now been instituted.” The cost is two adults and two children under 12 for $30. Normally, the cost is $12 for adults and $6 for children. Seating begins at 5:30 p.m. and is scheduled every 15 minutes until 6:30 p.m.

The menu includes haddock chowder or vegetable soup, homemade corn bread or French bread, and a salad bar with tossed, pasta, potato, ratatouille and three-bean salad options. For dessert there is homemade cakes, cookies and pies.

If children do not want chowder, they will be able to choose between macaroni and cheese or hot dogs.

Reservations can be made by calling St. Philip’s office at 882-7184. Leave a message and a call-back number, and the reservations person will be back in touch to verify date and time.

Another innovation this year is the addition of a short evening prayer at 5:15 p.m. in the church. People interested in a quiet contemplation or spiritual wrap-up to their day are invited to take part.

While waiting to be seated, or before or after taking part in the supper, people are encouraged to visit the church’s Bargain Basement thrift store.

Bargain Basement hours are regularly Tuesdays from noon to 5 p.m., and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The church is located at 12 Hodge St.
