A total of 10 Boy Scouts from Windham Scout Troop 805 – Lyle Webster, Paul Dube, Sam Knights, Francis Watson, Sam Shoberg, Joshua Libby, Reese Preston, Jaren Preston, Tucker Labbe and Joshua Richardson – have recently returned from a high adventure trip in Maine’s 100 mile Wilderness. Starting from Namakanta Lake off of the Jo Mary near Millinocket, the Scouts and six adult leaders – Chuck Libby, Paul Preston, Russ Shoberg, Roy Watson, Craig Doering and Mac Richardson – covered 50 miles in six days ending at Gulf Hagas. While Windham was enjoying sunny weather, Scouts experienced rain showers for the first three days of trip followed by a daylong rain when climbing 3,650-foot White Cap Mountain and three other peaks. Cold mountain spring water, beautiful swimming areas, and waterfalls were a few of the highlights enjoyed along the way. Aside from numerous blisters, a few cuts and bruises resulting from slips when crossing the many streams and wet areas on the trail, everyone came back healthy and happy.
