Gray-New Gloucester still perfect at Eastern Regional

Sam Libby pitched a five-hitter as Gray-New Gloucester improved to 3-0 in the Senior League Softball Eastern Regional with a 15-4 win Monday over Providence, R.I., at Worcester, Mass.

Gray-New Gloucester scored five runs in the first inning on singles by Libby, Maddie Elliott and Anna Knapp, a double by Taylor Whaley and a pair of errors.

Sandy Ricardi’s triple triggered a two-run second inning, and Gray-New Gloucester added eight runs in the fourth.

The Maine champs complete pool play at 10 a.m. Wednesday against the host team.

BASEBALL

JUNIOR LEGION: Caleb Chambers drove in the winning run in the top of the 14th inning as the Lyman Eagles (7-11) earned a 4-3 win (7-11) over Libby Mitchell (12-6) in the completion of a game suspended after nine innings Thursday.

• Kyle Ulrich and Matthew Poulin capped a four-run sixth inning with back-to-back doubles as Lewiston (13-5) snapped a 3-3 tie and went on to an 8-3 victory at South Portland (7-11) .

Ben Howell hit two triples to lead Lewiston.

NECBL: Brett Winger’s RBI single in the seventh inning gave the Newport Gulls (30-10) a 5-4 win over the Sanford Mainers (14-25) in Game 1 of a doubleheader, and the Gulls completed the sweep with a 6-4 victory at Newport, R.I.

Nate LaPointe had a three-run homer in the first game and a pair of hits with an RBI in the second game for the Mainers. Anthony Hajjar had four hits and an RBI.

rijo charged: A prosecutor in the Dominican Republic says 1990 World Series MVP Jose Rijo was charged with laundering money for a suspected drug trafficker.

Rijo, 47, led the Cincinnati Reds to the World Series championship in 1990 and also pitched for the Athletics and Yankees in his 14-year career. He was 116-91 with a 3.24 ERA.

BASKETBALL

NBA: The Atlanta Hawks traded shooting guard Willie Green to the Los Angeles Clippers for the rights to forward Sofoklis Schortsanitis, a 2003 draft pick from Cameroon who has not played in the league.

The deal creates a trade exemption for the Hawks, who have built depth at guard through a series of moves.

A person familiar with the situation said the Chicago Bulls and point guard Nate Robinson have agreed to a contract. The 5-foot-9 Robinson averaged 11.2 points and 4.5 assists last season for Golden State.

The Toronto Raptors re-signed free-agent forward Alan Anderson.

BOXING

PORTLAND BOXING CLUB: Liz Leddy, the reigning National Golden Gloves lightweight (132 pounds) champion, earned a unanimous decision over New England junior welterweight (141 pounds) champion Allie LaVigne of Sterling, Mass., in a card Saturday night at Lawrence, Mass.

Another Portland Boxing Club fighter, featherweight (125 pounds) Danny Pang, lost a split decision to Harry Tigglotti of Haverhill, Mass., in his amateur debut.
