BRUNSWICK — John LaBonte´ age 57 of 39 Gleed Drive, Brunswick passed away July 25, 2012 after a courageous five month battle with esophageal cancer with his loving wife Carmen by his side.

He was born in Verasilles’ France and moved here to Maine in 1957 and attended St. John Catholic school and graduated Brunswick High School class of 1973. After Graduation went to work for Fortin Fuel and Lumber which later became Brunswick Coal and Lumber where he drove truck for eighteen years. He was employed by R.J. Pellitier of Topsham for thirteen years up until the time of his diagnosis in February of this year.

John was very active in his younger years and enjoyed softball, baseball and table tennis, but of all his love of sports his ultimate love was playing pool!. He belonged to many local Bath/Brunswick Area Leagues as well as Lewiston and Waldoboro.

John loved spending time with his four grandchildren, two of which he and his wife have custody and have been raising for 4 years.

John is predeceased by his father Phillippe LaBonte´ in 2008 and his mother Emilienne LaBonte´ in 2011.

He is survived by his wife of 14 years Carmen of Brunswick, a sister Claire Brooks and her husband Jeff, two nephews; Jon and Jeff all of North Carolina, a brother Peter LaBonte´ and his wife Vicki of Bowdoinham, two step daughters of whom he considered his own, Krystal Doucette and Jennifer Doucette both of Brunswick, four grandchildren, Logan, Austin, Marcus and Samantha as well as two biological children a son Tyler LaBonte´ and a daughter Arlee Netko and her son Jaeden.

The family will hold a memorial service at Desmond Funeral Home, 34 Cushing St. Brunswick on Tuesday, July 31, from 4pm – 6pm. In lieu of flowers John’s wishes are that donations be made to his wife Carmen LaBonte’ c/o Midcoast Federal Credit Union, 6 Station Ave. Brunswick ME 04011.
