BRUNSWICK — In addition to voting unanimously to recommend that the town’s Planning Board look to amend zoning restrictions for the town’s municipal building at 28 Federal St. — it would allow continued office use in preparation for transferring the building to the Brunswick Development Corp. in exchange for land at the corner of Pleasant and Stanwood streets to build a police station — the Town Council on Monday:
— Unanimously approved votes for four uncontested officers to the Maine Municipal Association, including votes for vice presidential candidate Peter Nielson, town manager of Oakland, and director candidates John Butler, a Lewiston city councilor, Michael Crooker, town manager of Glenburn, and Marianne Moore, a Calais city councilor.
— Voted unanimously in favor of the town applying for the Maine Department of Transportation’s Safe Routes to School grant that would request funding for pedestrian activated crosswalk flashing beacon systems at four intersections and other improvements to bike and pedestrian safety totaling around $125,000.
— Voted unanimously in favor of the town submitting a grant application to the MDOT’s Federal Transportation Enhancements Funding program for the Androscoggin Riverwalk project.
— Voted unanimously in favor of the town submitting a joint grant application to the MDOT’s Federal Transportation Enhancements Funding program with the city of Bath and town of West Bath to expand the Androscoggin River Pedestrian and Bicycle Path to Bath.
— Voted 8-1, with councilor John Perreault objecting, to scratch the council’s August meeting, placing the council’s next meeting in September.
— Voted unanimously to approve a special amusement license for Bowdoin College, doing business as Bowdoin College Dining Service — Magee’s Grill, David Saul Smith Union, Allen W. Delong.
— Voted unanimously to submit the nomination of Denise Clavette to the Governor’s Office to consider for a position on the Midcoast Regional Redevelopment Authority’s board of directors.
— Voted unanimously to approve a consent agenda including: Approval of minutes of July 9, 2012; approval of a release deed for property with an undischarged tax lien to Boulay Properties LLC; approval of “A Standing Order Authorizing the Treasurer to Issue Declarations of Official Intent on Behalf of the Town of Brunswick, Maine”; approval of an application ULP 2012-05, Pleasant Street and Stanwood Street to allow FairPoint Communications to install around 173 feet of underground telecommunication duct on Stanwood Street and 300 feet of duct on Pleasant Street.
