The 22nd annual all-star invitational senior men’s/women’s soccer tournament will be held Tuesday, July 31, at Westbrook High School. Proceeds from the games will benefit Special Olympics Maine.
The men’s game will be held at 6 p.m. and the women’s game will follow at 8. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students. The rain date is Aug. 2.
The teams are made up of some of Maine’s finest high school varsity players from 2011. They will represent the Western Maine conference and the Southern Maine Activities Association.
Windham’s Amber Verrill will take the field for the SMAA women’s team, while Windham’s Robby Lentine and Dana King will play for the SMAA men’s team.
Michaela Despins of Gray-New Gloucester will play for the WMC women’s team. Ian Martell of Gray-New Gloucester will play for the WMC men’s team, as will Dakota Bush of Lake Region.
Michael Kennedy of Greely and Todd Dominski of Waynflete will coach the WMC women’s team. Dan LaVallee of Cheverus and Kevin St. Jarre of Massabesic will coach the SMAA women’s team.
Andrew Higgins of Gray-New Gloucester and Brandon Salway of Waynflete will coach the WMC men’s team, while Colin Minte of Windham and Joel Costigan of Deering will be the coaches for the men’s SMAA team.
A concession stand will be open and all proceeds will benefit Special Olympics Maine.
