NEW FACES

• Alex Noyes joined Broadreach Public Relations in Portland as a summer intern. Noyes, of Freeport, recently graduated from Wheaton College with a bachelor’s degree in psychology.

• Julie Dumont Rabinowitz was named director of communication for the Maine Department of Labor.
Rabinowitz has served as executive staff, board member and as a consultant for numerous nonprofits in Maine.

• Gavin Speaker and Whitney Chamberlain joined Consigli Construction Co., Inc. in Portland.

Speaker was hired as a project engineer. He has more than 10 years’ experience as an HVAC and refrigeration technician in the Maine National Guard. He also worked as a commercial pipe fitter and a commercial plumbing and heating technician.

Chamberlain was hired as an intern at the Portland office. She is a third-year civil engineering student at the University of Maine at Orono.

• John Backman joined Earle W. Noyes & Sons Moving Specialists as vice president of commercial services. Backman was previously with Bisson I & R Commercial Services.

• Lynn Boardway joined Spectrum Generations as an adult day break coordinator at its Cohen Community Center in Hallowell. Boardway has 28 years of experience as a licensed social worker.

AWARDS and RECOGNITION

• Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick received an “A” for hospital safety, according to a study by The Leapfrog Group, an independent nonprofit run by employers and other large purchasers of health benefits.

The Hospital Safety Score uses 26 measures to produce a single score representing a hospital’s overall capacity to keep patients safe.

• New England Medical Transcription was named a finalist for the Employer of the Year Award by the Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity.

NEMT was also named a finalist for the association’s Innovation through Technology Award, which recognizes a company for its technology standards in the industry.

NEMT was chosen as a finalist for Employer of the Year for its dedication to its 195 employees and independent contractors.

• Bernhard & Priestley Architecture in Rockport won an honor award in the 2012 American Institute of Architects Maine Design Awards program for a private residence in Rockport known as “Number 32 Residence.”

According to the project architect, John Priestley, “The goal was to transform a former blacksmith workshop into a crisp, contemporary home that sits comfortably in a dense village setting overlooking Rockport Harbor,” the news release said.

• Pierce Atwood LLP earned a high ranking in a recent survey conducted by Chambers and Partners, a London-based research organization.

Pierce Atwood has a total of 40 attorneys recognized in the 2012 guide “Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business.” The firm received No. 1 rankings in all six practice areas: Corporate M&A; Energy & Natural Resources; Environment; Labor and Employment; Litigation: General Commercial; Real Estate.
