BRUNSWICK — The Brunswick Masonic Lodge recently awarded a $1,000 scholarship to Caroline Minott, who graduated June 10 from Mt. Ararat High School.

The lodge awards a $1,000 grant annually to graduating seniors from Mt. Ararat and Brunswick high schools who best embodied the Masonic principles of hard work and a positive contribution to their community.

No Brunswick High School students applied for the scholarship this year.

Minott “has been a mentor to younger children, a Junior Rotarian, and a member and president of the Mt. Ararat Interact Club,” a release from the lodge states. “As a member of the Interact Club, she did things like offering babysitting services to the Parent Partnership Night so that parents can participate without worrying about finding babysitters for their other children. She has also participated in the Cram The Van food drive for the Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program (and) supported the Pennies for Peace, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation Walk, Muscular Dystrophy Hat Day and Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

She served as co-president of Mt. Ararat’s P.A.L.S. (Peers Assisting and Listening to Students) program, which helps freshmen and transfer students adjust to high school.

According to the release, Minott plans to major in biology in preparation for a career in medicine or teaching.
