BRUNSWICK
In a meeting Thursday to address routine financial matters prior to the close of the fiscal year, five Brunswick town councilors approved resolutions to transfer municipal funds to other accounts and authorize the over-expenditure of certain accounts.
Councilors Joanne King, David Watson, John Perreault, Gerald Favreau and Benet Pols unanimously approved the two resolutions, according to Town Clerk Fran Smith.
The first resolution transfers $196,000 currently split between funds for risk management, the police department, public works general maintenance, public works winter maintenance and wages and benefits adjustment to other town funds.
The transfers will divide that $196,000 as follows to accounts for: administration, $87,000; municipal officers, $12,000; municipal building, $25,000; cable TV, $5,000, economic development, $6,000; public works administration, $2,000; public works recycling, $3,000; public works central garage, $10,000; general assistance, $36,000; Curtis Memorial Library, $5,000; police station planning, $5,000.
The second resolution allows the town to exceed the gross appropriation for any account if the amount in excess is $10,000 or less.
The council also approved the abatement of $46,409 in outstanding property taxes that could not be collected due to absence or insolvency of the taxpayer.
