Free meals

for the summer

Free breakfast and lunch are available to any child under the age of 19, now through Aug. 17 (except July 4). There is no paperwork to fill out – just show up for breakfast or lunch Monday through Friday during the following times and locations:

Breakfast: Available only at the Westbrook Community Center, 426 Bridge St., from 8:15- 8:45 a.m.

Lunch: Served at the Westbrook Community Center, 426 Bridge St., and at Westbrook Middle School, 471 Stroudwater St., from 11:45 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.

The Westbrook School Nutrition Program will also be delivering meals in a clearly marked vehicle at the following sites weekdays to Aug. 17 (except July 4) at:

Brown Street Neighborhood Center, 11-11:15 a.m.

Westbrook Pointe Community Center, 11:25-11:40 a.m.

The Hamlet Community Center, 11:45 a.m.-noon.

Riverbank Park, 12:05-12:20 p.m.

Warren Community Pool, 12:40-12:55 p.m.

Mission Possible Teen Center, 1-1:15 p.m.

Free park concert

The group “Pretty Girls Sing Soprano” will perform from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 18, at Riverbank Park as part of a summer concert series.

No concert is scheduled for Wednesday, July 4.

Piechowski selected for Team America

Jordan Piechowski of Westbrook is one of several martial art students at Dragon Fire Martial Arts in South Portland who will represent the United States as members of Team America at the upcoming World Organization of Martial Arts Athletes World Championships in Telford, England, in August.

Piechowski, 10, is the son of Liz Scheetz of Westbrook and Mike Piechowski of Georgetown. He also plays basketball and is a member of the Odyssey of the Mind team at Canal School.

The students, who train under Shihan Andy Campbell at Dragon Fire Martial Arts, qualified as a result of each earning one of the top four places at the recent Mid-Atlantic Karate Championships. The students will join more than 500 other athletes from 56 different countries during the Aug. 17-19 competition.

UMO dean’s list students

University of Maine recently announced that several Westbrook students had been named to the dean’s list for the spring semester.

They are Jaclyn Bogner, Brendan Casavant, Alyssa Chauvette, Brittany Davis, Kristopher Doyon, Jonathan DuBois, Ronald Ho, Andrew Silver and Kassie Wilson.
