Free gazebo concert
The Delta Knights will be in concert 6:30-8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 3, at the gazebo on the lawn next to Baxter Memorial Library, 71 South St.
The concert is part of a summer series sponsored by Gorham Recreation Department. Parking is available along South Street or in the Gorham Municipal Center parking lot behind the library. From South Street, the lot is accessed by Morrill Avenue and then turn right onto Ball Park Road.
Gorham dean’s list students
The University of Maine has recognized 2,026 students for achieving deans list honors for the spring semester. Gorham students are Alexander Bailey, Justin Bolinger, Siobham Bolinger, Taylor Buotte, Rachele Burns, Matthew Cota, Ashley Crane, Eric Custeau, Nicole D’Andrea, Anne Ledoux, Bailey O’Brien, Samantha Owens, Mallory Pelkey, Clayton Peterson, Kathryn Smith, Jennifer Stoudt, Ryan Tardiff, Kiet Thai, Whitney Tulloch and Linda Wong.
The University of Hartford, West Hartford, Conn., announced that Conor Kirby and Travis Fields have been named to its dean’s list, also for the spring semester.
Cressey earns degree
Stephanie Cressey of Gorham graduated magna cum laude in June from Kaplan University. Cressey is the daughter of Kathleen Cressey; and granddaughter of Ernest and Elizabeth Cressey of Gorham.
She has been a member of the National Honor Society and has been on both the dean’s and presidents list’s. At the university’s awards banquet in May, she received the Certificate of Achievement award for being the first to earn a bachelor’s of science degree in business administration at Kaplan University- Maine. Cressey continues her studies toward her masters degree in business administration and has received a 4.0 in her first semester.
Gorham archives open Thursdays
The Gorham Historical Society archives building, 28 School St., is open to the public from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on Thursdays from now to October.
According to the society’s chronology, trustees of Maine Mutual Fire Insurance Co. voted on June 24, 1843, to authorize the purchase of a lot from Simon McLellan and erect a suitable office for the company. The building was completed in 1845 at a cost of $50. The brick building that once was a town office now houses the Gorham Historical Society.

Senior center activities
Lakes Region Senior Center, 40 Acorn St., in Gorham has announced a slate of activities for seniors in July. The center will be closed on Wednesday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day.
Thursdays, at 10 a.m. , Rosemary and Diane will be calling the bingo numbers; six cards for $1.
Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10 a.m., pickleball; Tuesday for experienced players and Thursday beginners are welcome.
Daily activities for members are:
Monday, July 2, 9:30 a.m. cribbage, all levels welcome.
Tuesday, July 3, 10 a.m., knitting, crochet and needlework session.
Thursday, July 5, 9 a.m., activities of your choice.
The Lakes Region Senior Center summer hours are Monday to Thursday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. This is a drop-in center and daily activities are flexible for members. The coffee/tea pot is always on. Donations are appreciated and help provide these events.
