BATH — Registration for Patten Free Library’s teen summer reading program begins Tuesday.
Participants can sign up and pick up a reading log at the information desk or call 443-5141 extension 12.
For every book completed, participants earn a small prize and a ticket for a chance in the program’s grand finale drawing. Prizes will be awarded at the Red Carpet Finale, with pizza and ice cream, on Aug. 10. The film “Hugo” will be shown at the Red Carpet Finale.
The program also offers special weekly events throughout the summer, including movie days, theater games and improvisation, and a digital book project. For starters, Amanda Walden will lead a free hooping lesson at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in City Park.
Events are free and open to all children in middle or high school. Registration is required for all programs except movie screenings. The complete schedule for this year’s teen summer reading program is available at www.patten.lib.me.us.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
You can read more here about our commenting policy and terms of use. More information is also found on our FAQs.
