TOPSHAM — Topsham American Legion Post 202 will conduct a veterans recognition program at the High Towers on Water Street in Brunswick at 11 a.m. Sunday.
During the recognition ceremony, 15 residents are slated to receive certificates of appreciation from the state of Maine for their military service.
A similar program will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Topsham American Legion, 79 Foreside Road.
Brunswick American Legion Post 20, in conjunction with Bath’s Post 21, Harpswell’s Post 171, Topsham’s Post 202 and Damariscotta’s Post 42, will honor the family of Pvt. Merwin A. Delano Jr., of Bath, who was killed in action during the Vietnam War while serving with the U.S. Army, according to an American Legion release.
Peter Ogden, director of Maine State Veterans Services, will make the award presentations. During the Topsham ceremony, at least 20 other veterans and their families are scheduled to be honored as well.
