MEXICO CITY (AP) — Mexico’s Navy says it has detained one of the sons of Mexico’s most wanted drug kingpin, Joaquin Guzman Loera.
It says marines detained Jesus Alfredo Guzman Salazar in the western state of Jalisco.
The Navy announced the detention Thursday in a brief statement, but it didn’t say when Guzman Salazar was caught or offer other details.
In early June, the U.S. Treasury Department announced it had placed financial sanctions on the 26-year-old Guzman Salazar and his mother, Maria Alejandrina Salazar Hernandez.
