BRUNSWICK — The Brunswick Parks and Recreation Department has a little bit of something for everyone this summer and next fall.
Summer Vacation Camp
For grades 1-6 (grade entering in fall of 2012). Games, arts and crafts, theme days, swimming, field trips, special events and more. Held at the Harriet Beecher Stowe School, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Before and after care available for 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Session I: June 18-July 13. Session II: July 16-Aug. 9. Fee is: $260 for Brunswick residents and $345 for non-residents per session.
Preschool Mini-Camp
Ages 3-5. Play activities, arts and crafts, stories and special events. Coffin School from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Session I: June 19-July 5 (age is determined as of June 19);
Session II: July 10-July 26 (age is determined as of July 10).
Sessions limited to 20 children per site. Session fee is $120 for Brunswick residents and $160 for non-residents. With teachers Stephanie Lucas and Christina Maney.
Birth certificate is required at time of registration.
Bowdoin College Greason Pool
Ages 5 and older. Red Cross lessons, levels I to VI. Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. Two sessions: July 2-July 13 and July 16-July 27. Fee is $49 for residents and $65 for non-residents per session. Julianne Raines, head instructor.
SUP Camp at Seaspray Kayaking
On the New Meadows River for ages 8-17. Learn proper techniques and safety of kayaking and paddle boarding (stand up paddling). Monday through Friday, June 25-June 29 or July 9-July 13, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., or 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Fee: $200 Brunswick residents and $266 non-residents. All-day, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Fee is $275 Brunswick Residents and $366 for non-residents.
Coffin Pond
Ages 4-14. Red Cross lessons, levels I, II & III. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 9:50 a.m. One session: July 30-Aug. 10. Session fees: $49 residents and $65 non-residents. Madeleine Hicks, head instructor.
Brunswick Dragons Boys Lacrosse Camp
Grades 3-8. July TBA for Little Dragons in grades 3-5, 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., a non-contact camp for beginning players emphasizing basic lacrosse fundamentals.
Big Dragons: grades 6-8; 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. This is a full equipment camp with contact. Both camps are held at the Brunswick High School. Cost: Little Dragon Camp $34 residents, $45 for non-residents. Big Dragon Camp fees are $40 residents, $52 for non-residents. Don Glover, director.
Soccer Camp
Ages 5-14 at Edwards Field on Aug. 8-12. Instruction, development and training for boys and girls of varied skill levels and ability, 9 a.m. to noon. Cost is $120 Brunswick residents, $160 for non-residents. Includes camp T-shirt, ball and evaluation.
Mad Science Camps
Junior Engineers (ages 6-12, entering first grade) July 16-July 20. Program held at Harriet Beecher Stowe School.
Campers will get wacky about aerodynamics, crazy with circuitry, radical with rockets, innovative with inventions, and mad with machines.
To be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with fees of $255 for residents, $339 non-residents per session.
Minor League Co-ed T-Ball
T-Ball for boys and girls ages 5-6 (as of Oct. 15, 2012) at Edwards Field. Monday nights, practices will be 4:30 p.m. or 5:45 p.m., June 25-July 23. Fees are $32 residents, $41 for non-residents.
Dragon Tennis
Grades 7-9. USTA QuickStart Tennis format which is designed to get players up and playing faster. Courts at Brunswick High School Monday and Wednesday from 10:15 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. June 25-July 25.
Fees are $44 for residents, $58 for non-residents. With coaches Steven Andreotti and Seth Holmblad.
Little Dragon Tennis
Grades 3-6. USTA QuickStart Tennis is designed for all abilities.
Located at the BHS tennis courts Monday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.
Fees are $42 residents, $55 for nonresidents. June 25-July 25. With coaches Steven Andreotti and Seth Holmblad
Munchkin Tennis
Ages 5 to Grade 2; USTA Quick- Start Tennis is designed to teach basic skills quickly to new players in a group setting. Located at the tennis courts at BHS. Monday and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m., June 25-July 25.
Fee: $37 residents, $48 non-residents. With coaches Steven Andreotti and Seth Holmblad.
Track & Field
Ages 6-14 (as of Dec. 31, 2012). Instruction, practices and weekly meets. Brunswick High School track. Practices on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. (ages 6-10) and 5:45 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. (ages 11-14). June 18-Aug. 8. Weekly meets will be held on Thursdays at 11 a.m. at Poland and Edward Little. School bus transportation provided to all meets. Fee: $55 residents, $73 non-residents. Pamela Swan, director.
Boys Basketball
Grades 3-9 as of fall 2012. Recreation Center gymnasium. Skill development and games. Time TBD July 5-21. Fee: $37 for residents, $48 for non-residents. Taurean Easter and Todd Hanson, directors.
Brunswick Youth Soccer League (BYSL)
Grade K-12. Recreation and school fields, early September to late October. Limited to Brunswick residents. Fee: $27 with late registration fee of $42, after July 30, and child is placed on waiting list.
Candlepin Bowling
Age 8 to grade 8 in fall 2012. This is a summer league for any level bowler held at the Columbus Club Bowling Bowl on Dunlap Street Wednesday evenings, June 13-Aug. 22 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. No bowling July 4. Fee: $37 for Brunswick residents, $50 for nonresidents.
Golf for Kids
Ages 9-15. Learn to play the fun way at the Highland Green Golf Club in Topsham. Long time golf instructor Gerry Caron has an extensive background in teaching youth. July 10-31, Tuesdays, 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Limited to Brunswick residents. Fee $65.
Art Summer Camps
Drawing and Painting for Younger Children. For grades entering K-2 in Fall 2012 at the Brunswick Junior High Art Room 2 Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. June 25-29. Fees are $90 for residents, $119 for non-residents.
Clay & Sculpture for Young Artists
For grades entering K-2 in Fall 2012 at the BJHS Art Room 1 Monday through Friday 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., June 25-29. Fees are $90 for residents, $119 for non-residents.
Creative Clay Camp
For grades entering 3-5 in Fall 2012 in BJHS Art Room 1 Monday through Friday 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. June 25-29. Fees are $90 residents, $119 for non-residents.
Drawing & Painting for Older Children
For grades entering 3-5 in Fall 2012 in BJHS Art Room 2 Monday through Friday 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. June 25-29. Fees are $90 residents, $119 non-residents.
Girls Softball Clinic
Ages 6-12 (as of Oct. 15, 2012) July 23-26 at Lishness Field from 9 a.m. to noon. Fees: $30 for residents, $39 for non-residents. Ryan Sullivan, director.
Youth Field Hockey Camp
For grades entering 3-8 in fall 2012 at BJHS from Aug. 20-22, 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Fees are $25 for residents, $33 nonresidents. Joan Juzzolino and Carrie Sullivan, directors.
Sailing Lessons
Safe and fun experience learning sailing skills for ages 8-14 at the Abbot Fletcher Sailing School on Orr’s Island.
Beginner class 9 a.m. to noon and intermediate class from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
One-week session is $185 and twoweek session $355. Monday through Friday from July 2-Aug. 17 with no class on the July 4.
Summer Baseball
For ages 6-12 as of Oct. 15, 2012. Monday through Thursday, July 30- Aug. 9 at Edwards Field, 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
