BRUNSWICK — GrowSmart Maine recently announced that Joe Merrill of Brunswick has been elected to the GrowSmart Maine board of directors and will serve as treasurer.
According to a news release, Merrill has served on GrowSmart Maine’s Finance Committee since 2008. He is the finance manager for the Maine and Vermont chapters of The Nature Conservancy.
He received his B.S. degree in business administration from the University of Maine in 1988. He earned his CPA designation while employed by Ernst & Young in Portland.
Prior to joining The Nature Conservancy in 2005, Merrill also served as accounting manager for Pioneer Plastics Corp. and Associated Grocers of Maine, and as financial analyst in Fleet Bank’s commercial lending department.
“It’s an honor to be a part of the GrowSmart Maine board and I look forward to this role particularly with such an exciting year ahead,” said Merrill.
Board chairman Kevin Bunker said, “Joe has contributed to the strength of GrowSmart Maine, and we are looking forward to having his talents and energy on the board.”
