The School Administrative District 75 board of directors will meet this evening to consider appointing a new assistant superintendent of schools and Mt. Ararat High School athletic director.
Both candidates will be considered for appointment to one-year contracts, effective July 1. The SAD 75 board hired Elaine Dow in July 2011 on a one-year interim basis to fill the district’s vacant assistant superintendent position. Current Superintendent Brad Smith had served as assistant superintendent from Oct. 12, 2010, until July 1, 2011, when he took over as superintendent upon the retirement of former superintendent Michael Wilhelm. Colin Roy is retiring at the end of this school year after serving as Mt. Ararat High School’s athletic director for the last 16 years.
The school board will meet at 6:30 p.m. in Room 201 at Mt. Ararat High School.
Before recognizing the accomplishments of several students Thursday, the school board will take time to remember three former employees of the district who recently died: Ellen Berrie, elementary school librarian from 1974 to 1994; Benjamin F. Crehore III, mathematics teacher from 1969 to 1993; and Eileen Boucher, Mt. Ararat High School nurse from 1978 to 1991.
