CASCO – The Lakes Region was inundated with about 8 inches of rain last weekend, causing lasting problems throughout the region.
With the heavy precipitation, state officials halted operation of the Songo Lock in Casco to ensure floodwaters from Long Lake and the Upper Songo could make their way unimpeded into Sebago Lake and the Presumpscot River. Along with swelled waterways, low-lying areas also flooded after four days of nearly constant rain, which also took a toll on some area roadways.
