BRUNSWICK — The Peace Fair Planning Committee seeks nominations for its eighth annual Peacemaker Award to someone in the community whose work has contributed to making the world we live in more just and compassionate.
Last year, the Peace Fair honored John Dennen “for his persistent outreach regarding the care of for those caught up in the African AIDS pandemic, as well as Mary Beth Sullivan for her peace-building work with the Global Network Against Weapons and Nuclear Power in Space,” a release from the fair’s coordinator states.
Previous awards went to John Favreau, Loukie Lofchie, Debbie Leighton, Christine DeTroy, Bob Dale, Herschel and Selma Sternlieb, Gary Lawless and Jonathan Reitman.
Nominations are due June 15. They should include a brief description of why the nominee merits the award. Mail nominations to Peace- Works, P.O. Box 652, Brunswick, ME 04011.
The Peace Fair Planning Committee will select the award recipient, who will be recognized at the opening ceremony of the Peace Fair on Aug. 4.
