SCARBOROUGH – Athletes from Windham and Bonny Eagle competed last Saturday in the Southern Maine Activities Association championships in Scarborough.

Hannah Damron led the Eagles to a ninth-place finish. Damron won the triple jump with a distance of 34-01, and took fourth in the 300-meter hurdles.

Also for the Eagles, CiAnne Plummer finished third in the 1600-meter race walk, while teammate Lonnie Staten took fourth in the shot put. Staten also finished 16th in the discus, two spots behind teammate Ashley Boyle. Mary Margaret-Green took seventh place in the long jump, while teammate Whitney Murray finished 10th.

Natalie Van Baars came in 13th in the 200-meter dash finals, while Damron finished 17th. Roselyn Moisan finished 15h in the 400-meter dash. Julia Rand and Mackenzie Joy finished 15th and 16th, respectively, in the 800-meter run. Lucy Algeo finished 13th in the 1600-meter run.

The Eagles’ 4×100 relay team finished sixth, the 4×400 team finished 10th, 4×800 team came in sixth.

Audrey Weyand had a solid meet for Bonny Eagle girls, taking second in the 100-meter and 400-meter dashes and fourth in the 200-meter dash. Teammate Samantha Cox finished second in the 800-meter run, while Mary Szatkowski finished third in the 3200-meter run. The girls 4×400 relay team won its event, as did the 4×800 relay team. The team finished fourth overall.

On the boys side, Windham finished eighth. Hurdler Patrick Rice again led the way for the Eagles, taking third in both the 110-meter and 300-meter events.

Also for the Windham boys, Jeremy Peavey finished 12th in the 400-meter dash, Asa Lewis 14th and Travis Harkins 16th in the 800-meter run, and Robert Cave was 12th in the 1600-meter run. Windham’s 4×800 relay team finished 10th.

Justin Hardesty was sixth in the long jump and fourth in the triple jump for the Eagles, while Harkins was sixth in the triple jump.

Jon Thomas of Bonny Eagle won the high jump by clearing 6-00 in the seed round and 5-10 in the finals. Thomas also finished third in the triple jump. Teammate Shane Corbett won the discus throw (148-08). The team finished fifth overall.
