FALMOUTH – Maggie Chaplin collected three hits and an RBI, and also was the winning pitcher as Gray-New Gloucester downed Falmouth 8-1 in a Western Maine Conference regular-season softball finale Wednesday.
Chaplin struck out two and scattered eight hits for the Patriots (12-4), who are heading to the Western Class B tournament.
Sandra Ricardi and Alexandra Thompson added two hits and one RBI apiece for the Patriots, who broke it open with a five-run second inning.
Falmouth (8-8) got two hits apiece from Maddie Inlow and Amanda Carver.
OCEANSIDE 9, LEAVITT 0: Hannah Plourde and Kennadi Grover knocked in three runs each, and Rachel Frye pitched a two-hitter with five strikeouts to lead the Mariners (15-1) past the Hornets (11-5) at Rockland.
BONNY EAGLE 19, PORTLAND 6: Caitlyn Dyer hit a leadoff triple and scored to spark an eight-run fourth inning for the Scots (8-8), who downed the Bulldogs (1-15) in five innings at Standish.
Mikayla Goodale had three hits and drove in two runs, and Brooke VanRosendal hit a pair of doubles for Bonny Eagle.
Ashley Roux added a two-run double, and Lindsey Howell tripled and a singled for the Scots.
NOBLE 9, CHEVERUS 0: Deven Goss hit a two-run homer in the first inning and Jessica Morris went 3 for 5 with four RBI as the Knights (12-4) defeated the Stags (5-11) at Portland.
Amber Kelly struck out seven in a five-hitter for Noble.
Izzi Grasso struck out six over four innings of relief for Cheverus.
YARMOUTH 15, YORK 3: Emily Parker knocked in two runs with a third-inning single as the Clippers (5-11) downed the Wildcats (2-14) in five innings at Yarmouth.
LAKE REGION 7, WELLS 3: Jackie Laurent hit a tying RBI single in the fourth inning and added an RBI single during a five-run fifth as the Lakers (8-8) pulled away from the Warriors (6-10) at Wells.
Emily Bartlett added a two-run single in the fifth for Lake Region and Allison Clark pitched a six-hitter to earn the win.
Lauren Bame hit a two-run homer for Wells.
CAPE ELIZABETH 7, POLAND 3: Ashley Tinsman tripled, then scored on a single by Lexi Cantara to break a 3-3 tie, and Emmy Ham added a two-run double in the 10th inning as the Capers (13-3) defeated the Knights (7-9) at Poland.
Ham finished with four hits, and Anna Goldstein struck out seven in a five-hitter for the win.
Brittina Maheux hit a two-run triple and a double for the Knights.
THORNTON ACADEMY 16, WESTBROOK 0: Julia Geaumont pitched a one-hitter with 10 strikeouts and no walks, and also had three hits with three RBI for the Golden Trojans (14-2) in a five-inning game against the Blue Blazes (8-8) at Saco.
Geaumont hit a two-run homer during a four-run fourth.
Erin Brayden also had three hits with four RBI, and Samantha Schildroth, Bailey Tremblay and Jordan Agger each had two hits.
Brooke Cross hit a three-run homer in the eight-run second.
LACROSSE
MORSE 16, GARDINER 3: Christina Stuart and Tori Field scored three goals apiece for the Shipbuilders (4-8), who used an 11-1 second-half run to pull away from the Tigers (1-11) at Gardiner.
MESSALONSKEE 11, MT. ARARAT 10: Sara Grenier finished with five goals to lift Messalonskee (7-5) over Mt. Ararat (6-6) at Oakland.
YARMOUTH 18, NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 9: Morgan McNaboe had three goals to lead six players with multiple goals for the visiting Clippers (6-6) against the Panthers (1-11) at Yarmouth.
Caitlin Crawford, Grace O’Donnell, Olivia Conrad, Maddie Wood and Ricki Pierce each had two goals for the Clippers.
