WESTBROOK – Power has been restored to a section of Westbrook after an early-morning crash knocked out a utility pole on Bridge Street at approximately 1:45 a.m. on May 29.

According to Westbrook police, a car driven by Joshua Robbins, 26, of Westbrook, struck the pole on Bridge Street between Pierce and Lincoln streets in a single car accident. Police said the pole was knocked to the ground, causing power outages in the area. Robbins, who was not injured in the crash, was arrested and taken to Cumberland County Jail on a charge of operating under the influence.

Bridge Street was closed temporarily while crews repaired the damaged pole, police said the repairs were done and the street was reopened around 7 a.m.
